Black Walnut Table
American Black Walnut Dining Table
This was a beautiful slab of American Black Walnut is approximately 200 years old and measures 2.8m long and at its widest point 1.2m wide and 60mm thick. The tree was salvaged from north slope of the Santa Monica Mountains following a natural rock slide.
This table has some extraordinary features, first the sapwood contains a rare defect which causes beautiful dimples, the heart wood is deep browns with a black grain with beautiful burring coming in from the edges. It also retains the crotch. Whilst preparing the slab we found a bullet embedded which is still there.
The slab is mounted on cross style black powder coated steel legs which are brace with a 100mm square piece of American Black Walnut cut from the same tree.
